After developing and running a successful regional greeting card fundraiser for the Rocky Mountain JDRF organization for several years, MORETHANCARDS.COM
was formed by John and Rosemarie Feeney to provide the process, infrastructure
and end-to-end coordination support necessary to assist non-profits, initially the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to initiate or expand their Greeting Card Programs. Since 2001, MTC has fully managed the nationally sanctioned program for the JDRF organization, expanded its support to the Children with Diabetes Foundation, and is currently working with several other national and international non-profit groups on developing their greeting card programs.
More Than Cards.com (MTC), provides design, coordination, printing and web-based online ordering to support your non-profit Greeting Card Program. We offer customized solutions, including offset printing and warehousing, web to press customized printing and fulfillment processes.
MoreThanCards.Com is located in Boulder, Colorado and is run with a specific focus on keeping overhead, design and production costs low.
We work hard to raise funds for much needed research,
helping to make the dream of a cure a reality.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is simple. Help to fund a cure for diabetes and other life threatening diseases through leveraging the success we've had in supporting our current foundations. Keep the upfront costs to the organization minimal, if any, and contribute a very high percentage to the organization first, via a pre-committed contribution from each sale.
As an example, in the first four years of the national JDRF program, we have designed and sold over 1,000,000 greeting cards and contributed over $1,000,000 dollars for diabetes research. Proudly, proceeds of the card program (roughly 45 cents on the dollar)
went directly to JDRF to fund research (after design, printing and distribution costs).
MoreThanCards.com performs all of the work for this program, leaving the staff of the non-profit organization free to do the fundraising and research funding within their mission.
OUR PERSONAL STORY
What got us started?
Our daughter Dana was diagnosed with Juvenile (Type 1) Diabetes two days after her fourth birthday. Although multiple injections per day, constant testing of blood sugar levels, and balancing food and exercise can be a hardship to such a young child, it is nothing when compared to the complications of this serious disease.
The potential complications of diabetes are blindness, kidney failure, cardiovascular disease and neuropathy (or nerve damage which is the most common, non-accident cause of amputations in the United States) and shortened lifespan.
As any parent would, we try to get our daughter the best care and help her stay healthy and live a healthy lifestyle. However, although insulin allows her to stay alive, it is not a cure for the disease, nor does it prevent the development of serious physical complications.
WE NEED TO FIND A CURE so that these children can grow up to live long and healthy lives. We are hopeful that running a program like MTC can help make the "cure" a reality for diabetes and other chronic illnesses.
